We're all guilty of it, but we can't keep making these excuses forever. When you start working on your book or blog post, the whole project seems overwhelming and you feel like giving up before you even begin. It's easier to watch Netflix instead!
We all know that writing every day is important, but we also know how hard it can be to stay motivated and stick with our goals.
And if we're not careful, that beautiful, creative gift inside of us can quickly get snuffed out by our inability to stay consistent.

😣 Maybe you're already feeling the chokehold...
-
🧵 Maybe your self-esteem is already hanging by a thread on life-support.
-
😎 You appear cool, calm, and confident to everyone else, but on the inside, thoughts of self-doubt, imposter syndrome, and what-ifs keep you up at night.
- What if you never finish your work(s) in progress?
- What if you'll never be remembered for anything?
- What if you'll never be more than a “someday” writer?
- What if you end up with a lifetime of regret over words unwritten?
Over the years, I struggled with the same problems you face. I tried everything from online courses to pricey coaches, but nothing worked until I discovered the one thing that changed my life – science-backed methods for habit formation and goal setting.
-
I read books on brain science, habit formation & psychology — lots of them
-
I tracked countless hours reading, highlighting, taking notes, and running personal experiments as a human guinea pig
-
I drilled successful authors and high achievers for the secret to their successes
-
I studied the routines of legendary creatives, artists, and thinkers like Benjamin Franklin, and Anthony Trollope (who wrote 63 books, Gah!)
-
I researched the psychology behind procrastination, anxiety, fear, and regret
-
I examined the biological response to stress and how the fight or flight response inhibits the ability of our pre-frontal cortex to think clearly (aka writer’s block)
And what I found was so profoundly simple. Something so simple...so natural ...so obvious. It was right there all along…right under my nose.
...The one thing that moved the needle more than anything else ...The one thing that almost all high-achievers do...
The answer...
Make a plan...
👇
...and then execute the plan
So why was I making it so hard?
Why was I struggling with something so simple?
Because here's the hard truth - knowing what to do and doing what you know are completely different things.
We all know we should plan and take action.
We're all familiar with the famous Abraham Lincoln quote: “Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.”
Or the commonly quoted business advice, "If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail."
This is why it's important to plan each day, each week, each quarter, etc. Because here's the thing: "You can always change your plan, but only once you have one!“ Otherwise you're just guessing. And the great thing about planning is that it allows you to stop wasting time, energy and money on random activities which may or may not get you closer to your goals.
So, today I want to help you make it easy and fun to plan.
And by easy, I mean as easy as picking your favorite flavor from the corner Ice Cream shop.
Just like my wife likes Mint Chip and I like Cookies & Cream everyone has different tastes.
And that goes for planners too.
That's why I put together something truly unique.
Instead of giving you productive claustrophobia, by boxing you in to a specific planner format, I'm breaking the chains of the mundane and offering you a buffet of planners & journals to fuel your creativity!
